Firm Strategy

The 10-week FSE Summer Analyst program takes place at Morgan Stanley’s headquarters in New York. Summer Analysts will have the opportunity to work on both strategy projects and principal M&A transactions, while gaining direct exposure to senior management. On strategic consulting projects, Summer Analysts can expect to develop advanced problem-solving skills, strategic thinking frameworks, and a much deeper understanding of the global financial services industry. Through analysis and execution of principal M&A projects, Summer Analysts will learn the fundamentals of company valuation, deal sourcing, structuring and execution, due diligence, negotiations and business integration.

Investment Banking

Summer Analysts hired in New York are given general offers, then placed into one of the industry coverage groups or into Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). Opportunities are also available in our regional offices in Houston, Menlo Park, Calgary, Toronto and the Western Region (Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Francisco – Healthcare). During the 10-week program, Summer Analysts experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley by taking on responsibilities of a Full Time Analyst, working on a variety of corporate transactions and making meaningful contributions to the delivery of projects.

Global Capital Markets

Summer Analysts in Global Capital Markets (GCM) receive general offers, then are placed onto a desk in one of our groups during the summer: Equity Capital Markets, Fixed Income Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance or Client Solutions. During the 10-week program, you will be working with our clients on complex, innovative financing and risk management solutions. The environment is market-driven and reflects that of an open trading floor where you are closely integrated with your team. The GCM experience and its flat structure will provide you with a high level of responsibility early in your career.

Wealth Management

The Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program is a competitive 10-week program consisting of one week of training and nine weeks working in a specific group. Summer Analysts will work closely with either Investment Strategies, Solutions or Product Management teams. They will gain a thorough understanding of the Wealth Management business and the full range of financial products and services available to our clients. During the 10-week program, Summer Analysts experience the culture and atmosphere of Morgan Stanley by performing a role similar to a Full Time Analyst.

Public Finance
