The founding mission of the Yale School of Management is to educate leaders for business & society. We seek students who care deeply about the problems afflicting our world. We equip them with the knowledge, the resources, and the networks to pursue positive and ambitious change.
Classroom discussions and assignments tackle real-world issues—like eliminating discrimination in organizations and making the hard choices to integrate sustainability in decision making—in a more realistic way. From day one, students are pushed to think like a leader and rigorously consider the many ways you have an impact on the communities around you—from our home city of New Haven to the furthest corners of the globe.
Yale SOM students learn from faculty who are using analytical tools to understand the issues that matter. Uniquely among business schools, SOM is closely tied to its home university; MBA students take advantage of the resources of Yale University with their second year of electives, which can be taken in any Yale University classroom.
Most Yale MBAs have work experience before joining, but Yale SOM has a unique opportunity for college seniors to pursue a Yale MBA immediately after graduation, allowing them to accelerate their career path. MBA students in Yale’s Silver Scholars Program spend their first year developing the basic skills and mindset of a manager through our innovative core curriculum. In the second year, they complete a full-time internship giving them a competitive advantage in pursuing a permanent position. In their third year, they return to campus for the conclusion of the MBA program, taking electives at Yale SOM and elsewhere at the university in the areas that most interest them and support their career goals.
