FORUM DETAILS

Summer 2023 (Virtual)

Deadline to Apply includes rolling monthly deadlines and admission decisions.

Update due to COVID-19

Like you, JumpStart has been monitoring the COVID-19 implications on public health, gathering and travel restrictions, and trend projections over the coming months.

Although we have executed in-person career forums with partners and recruits successfully for 15 years, we’ve made the decision to host the Career Forum as a Virtual Experience. This change in approach prioritizes the health and safety of our participants and our partners.

Corporate Partners

JumpStart partners include Accenture, Bain, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BCG, Conagra Brands, Cornerstone Research, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Evercore, First Republic, McKinsey, Microsoft, Plante Moran, Redstone Strategy Group, Sephora, Vista Equity Partners, Wellington Mgmt, and West Monroe Partners.

Attendee Audience

The diversity forum audience is undergraduate students (incoming First Years, rising sophomores, rising juniors, and rising seniors) from top academic institutions across the United States. Forum participants are diverse individuals based on ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ, and veteran or military status. We typically host 125-200 attendees at our private ‘invite-only’ diversity forums.

Specific to STEM, candidates typically are pursuing degrees in computer science, data science, information systems/technology, mathematics, engineering, sciences, etc. Some students may be pursuing a masters as well.

Business Career Track Approach

At the undergraduate stage, our approach is to expose candidates to various career opportunities. Freshman and rising sophomores are required to participate in the entire forum. Upper classmen, rising seniors, will have the ability to opt into specific sessions.

STEM Career Track Approach

The Tech, Professional Services, and other industries continue leveraging technology to either disrupt out-of-date business or life experiences. As such, we need the next generation of talent to be a part of this journey.

Are you interested in enterprise networking, cloud technology, cyber or information security?

Does digital disruption and strategy, innovative payments (i.e. Blockchain), Internet of Things (IOT), mobile app development, or data analytics peak your interest?

Perhaps you get excited about e-Commerce, lean IT, machine learning, robotics & automation, experience design, or systems integration?

Do you have a working knowledge or seek to use technology such as Operating Systems (Linux/Unix), Cloud Technology (i.e. Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services), Database (i.e. SQL Server, MongoDB), Platforms (i.e. Salesforce, Sharepoint), Mobile (i.e. Swift, Android), Front or Back End (i.e. Java)?

Do you have a coursework and/or practical experience in technology, engineering, computer science, mathematics, etc.?

Application Approach

Separate from becoming a member of the JumpStart Network, some opportunities are structured as “invitation only”. Our diversity forums are an example of that, so candidates seeking admission must complete an application by a specific deadline. The application process can take 15 minutes for applicants to establish a profile and provide context your career aspiration.

Resume Guidance

A current resume is required as part of completed application. Since our review and decision process is on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply now with the understanding that there is an opportunity to submit an updated version prior to all final decisions being made. Admitted candidates will have the opportunity to submit your most current resume.

Academic Supportive Details Required

A completed application to JumpStart includes an academic profile specific to undergraduate and graduate information, as applicable. Additionally, applicants may need to provide pre-college (i.e. SAT, ACT) or pre-graduate (i.e. GMAT, GRE) test scores. Additionally, we will need proof of current or future matriculation at your academic institution.

Admissions Approach

The number of admitted candidates to our forums will vary, but there is fixed capacity ranging from 125-200 attendees. Our committee reviews applications on a rolling basis and decisions are communicated on a rolling basis as well. Decisions include some applicants being directly admitted, put on the waitlist, or denied admission.

Confirmed Registration

There is a time-sensitive approach for admitted candidates to confirm participation and formally register. As context, the $50 Registration Fee to participate in our JumpStart forums and virtual sessions has been WAIVED. Additionally, you will need to provide an updated resume and other items at by various milestone deadlines.

Webinars

To best prepare you for the diversity forum, we have several webinars hosted by JumpStart with our alumni and corporate partners. Webinars are invite-only to those who complete an application to our forum.

Forum Approach and Schedule

What: Attendees gain hands on experience to understand the industry, function, the job, career progression, recruiting process, and how to get the job.

When: Typically our forums are 2-4 day boot camp experiences providing focused time covering strategic topics in an engaging way at a time that makes sense for everyone.

How: Attendees and partners jump into interactive case studies, mock interviews, workshops, 1:1s, keynote addresses, and receptions.

The final schedule will be published for attendees closer to the date of the forum.

Interview Guidance

As part of our diversity forums, our partners and candidates have the opportunity for 1:1 interactions. As directed and decided by or partners, these experiences are a mix of informational chats (15-30 minutes) or formal interviews (30-90 minutes). This process is limited to candidates who have been admitted and attend the diversity forum. Additional details are provided to those individuals at a future date (either prior to the forum and in some cases after the forum has started).
